How the treatment process works

The Gumbo Water Treatment Plant uses a conventional packaged treatment
process to prepare raw water for distribution.

01

River intake

Raw water is drawn from the River Nile and conveyed to the treatment plant.

02

Aeration & dosing

Water enters the splitter tank, where aeration and chemical addition take place.

03

Coagulation & clarification

Flow is split across four parallel treatment lines for flocculation and clarification.

04

Pressure filtration

Clarified water passes through four parallel pressure-filter units.

05

Storage & distribution

Treated water is pumped to the Sudken reservoirs and into the distribution network.
